ABOUT
I am a freelance archaeologist who has lived and worked on Lewis for over 15 years, during which time I have undertaken over 25 commercial projects, directed or supervised important parts of 3 research projects and spent 2 years as the St Kilda Archaeologist.
These experiences have made it clear to me that a lot of archaeology work, particularly the commercial work done as a result of the planning system, can struggle to reach a public audience; final reports can take a long time to be published and, if they are published online and open access, are not easily found. Apart from denying islanders research into their land- stories, this can also lead to a sense of alienation from the archaeological profession. It is hoped that this website will go some way towards remedying that situation by publishing my own recent reports (where the client allows it) and aiding access to those of any other Archaeologists who come to work on the Isle of Lewis.

However this is also my commercial website. I am a fully qualified Archaeologist with a BSc (Hons) from Glasgow University and have been an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists for 13 years. I am available for the full range of professional archaeological services, from Desk Based Assessment studies, Standing Building Surveys and Walk-Over Surveys to Archaeological Evaluations and Excavations.
